Over the years, Ashley has had the ability to do some great work with some stellar youth communities. She served as the Educational Ministries Assistant at East Liberty Presbyterian Church, Sunday School teacher at Broadway Presbyterian Church, and Pastoral Fellow for Youth and Families at Rutgers Presbyterian Church. In her previous roles, she has founded LGBTQ youth organizations, overseen and taught Sunday School programs, led and guest taught youth groups, and formulated and led Vacation Bible School programs, and written and directed Christmas Pageants. Ashley has preached at the Progressive Youth Ministry Conference, served as a workshop leader for the Trinity Youth Conference, and chaperoned youth groups on mission trips led by Open Hand Ministries and TEAMEffort. She's has also worked and volunteered with organizations such as CISV Pittsburgh and Hope Academy of Music and the Arts. She has training in ritual and worship, children's theatre, writing, and improvisation.
Ashley's philosophy of working with children and youth is based in encouraging questions and exploration. She seeks not only to teach but to help young people discover their faith for themselves. Throughout her career, she has sought to incorporate various practices-from meditation to theatre exercises to technological creativity-into her work. Her work reflects her beliefs that God can be found in all forms of creation and expression and that both individual and communal experiences are important to our spiritual growth. She also feels especially called to teach God's love through diversity, racial, and LGBTQ workshops and classes.
Ashley is available for preaching, teaching, workshops, panels, and diversity training.
